A little background...

So for anyone who may not be aware I am in the process of getting ready for Bariatric surgery. This isn't the first time that I have thought about the surgery but I'm at a place in my life where it's the right time and it also will help for the future.

I've been going through different stages for the surgery. The first was going to a seminar where they tell you the different surgery options and you get to meet the surgeon, mine will be Dr. Beth Ryder (voted one of the top general surgeons in RI) so that works for me, plus she worked with dad at RI hospital, and he says I'm in pretty good hands.

After the meeting I get to go through Insurance company protocols...first up a psychiatric evaluation...yeah I promise it's all good. However they did send me to "group therapy" which yeah is as fun as it sounds. It basically means I sit there and they tell me if I'm hungry or craving anything go for a walk. So anyway, I did what I was supposed to do for the most part, for people who don't know Russell and I went on a cruise, and I wanted to enjoy it without having to count every single calorie and every movement I made. And honestly I did pretty well and got a lot of exercise as well.

The other part of this was needing to visit a nutritionist for six months, which isn't horrible except that my nutritionist is an idiot. I did more for myself than she even thought of. But she's leaving her job at the end of the month but that's okay by me.

So now that I'm home from vacation begins the start of a new way of thinking and a new way of life. I'm going to do my best to keep myself honest and up to date. Even if I'm only doing the basics, hopefully once it gets better and I've been doing more I will be able to give more detail but if I can keep up with the basics then that's good with me.

Day "1"
